How we estimate it

• Already approved — $50,000 to $150,000 per doctor. Unscheduled treatment typically represents $50,000–$150,000 in recoverable production for a practice [1]. We apply that range to each doctor.
• Already due — active patients × 15–25% not reappointed × two recare visits a year × $203. Healthy practices reappoint 85% or more of recare patients; below 75% signals patients going inactive [2][3]. $203 is the national average for a checkup with exam, X-rays and cleaning [4].
• Already covered — insured patients × 10–15% × $1,000 in benefits left. 88% of Americans have dental coverage [5]; most PPO members have an annual maximum of $1,500 or more [6], and 95% of people with coverage never reach it [7]. We count only $1,000 of that maximum — what's left after two recare visits — and only for the 10–15% of insured patients we assume have covered care waiting. Everyone else isn't counted.
• Room to do it. We also check your office has capacity: a staffed chair produces about $231,721 a year, and raising utilization from 75% to 85–90% frees roughly $31,000–$46,000 of production per chair [8]. A chair counts only if you have a doctor, hygienist or assistant to run it. This isn't added to your total.
