StackFloss is software for independent dental practices. It connects to the practice management system (PMS) and finds care patients are eligible for but haven’t received: care that is already approved, already due, or already covered. Much of it belongs to patients already on the schedule. Find it. Act on it. Automate it.

We’re racing to launch our MVP customer app. You’ll lead its front end and connect it to our AWS backend.

The role

You will own the StackFloss customer app front end from first commit to MVP launch. You will turn our discovery work into a fast, accessible, HIPAA-aware web app and wire it to services running on AWS.

This is a hands-on senior role. You will write most of the front-end code, set its standards, and work directly with the founders and our infrastructure engineer. You are comfortable making decisions quickly and shipping in small, safe increments.

What you’ll do

• Build the MVP customer app in Next.js (App Router), TypeScript and Tailwind, using accessible component primitives (Radix/shadcn).
• Ship role-based home screens, a pre-visit “Today” view, prioritized work lists, patient detail, a dollar-based results funnel and our PracticeChat interface.
• Implement plan gating (Diagnose, Recover, Automate) with honest locked and preview states.
• Build HIPAA-aware UI patterns: role-based access, idle timeout, patient-info masking, no patient data in URLs, and a record of every action.
• Define the front end’s API contracts and move from typed mock data to live AWS services (API Gateway, Lambda, Cognito, S3, CloudFront or similar).
• Set up authentication and authorization flows with AWS Cognito or an equivalent identity provider.
• Own front-end CI/CD, preview environments, monitoring and error tracking.
• Turn our brand tokens into a reusable design system with light theme first and dark mode later.
• Make pragmatic trade-offs to hit MVP dates, and document what we defer.

What you bring

• 7+ years of professional web development, with 4+ years as a senior or lead front-end engineer.
• Expert React and TypeScript; production experience with Next.js (App Router, server components, route handlers).
• Deep, hands-on AWS experience: Cognito, API Gateway, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, IAM, and CloudWatch at minimum.
• Infrastructure as code with AWS CDK, Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience building secure apps that handle sensitive data (HIPAA, SOC 2 or similar), including auth, session handling and least-privilege access.
• A record of taking a product from zero to launch at a startup or on a small team.
• Strong accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and performance habits for data-dense, all-day desktop apps.
• Clear written communication and comfort working async across time zones.

Nice to have

• Healthcare or dental software experience, especially with practice management systems such as Open Dental.
• AWS certification (Solutions Architect, Developer or Security).
• Experience building conversational interfaces like PracticeChat, where every answer shows the numbers behind it.
• Data visualization experience (funnels, trends, dashboards).
• Experience deploying Next.js on both Vercel and AWS (Amplify, or containers on ECS/Fargate).
